Cringe to Confident:
We’ve all been there - that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach when you post online or look at your own social media. As an overthinker and introvert myself, I know that cringe all too well.
What will people think? Is my idea good enough? Am I credible? Enough? The critic inside starts to stir.
But sharing your truth and gifts is so important. So how can we move past the cringe to confidently step into the virtual spotlight?
Here are three things that help me overcome those uncomfortable feelings whenever they pop up:
Remember emotions are temporary. Acknowledge the feeling without judgment, and let it pass. Anxiety or uncertainty normally only lasts 90 seconds if you don't feed it. Don't let a fleeting emotion stop you from long term goals like posting regularly.
Take a 3rd person perspective. When reviewing your own videos or posts, imagine how you’d see it if it were a stranger. Would you judge them as harshly? This creates more self-compassion.
Go out in public. Stepping away from my online world reminds me I don't care what random people think. Why should my own audience feel differently?
Sometimes it's about shifting perspective - how you see yourself determines how you show up. Your unique gifts and brand deserve to be seen.
Next time the cringe strikes, remember: what you have to say matters. The right people are waiting to connect with your message. With more practice being vulnerable, it gets easier.
You've got this! I believe in you. Now get out there and shine confidently as the amazing person you are.
